Squidoo

Wow! I'm loving Squidoo and totally addicted to it.

My original intention was to create a single lens to link to my main website but I soon found myself creating another lens and then another - total of 3 lenses in 3 days and I've spent time in the forum and looking at other people's lenses!

Busy, busy but absolutely fantastic because it's so interactive. I had 3 comments on my first lens, within a few hours, and obviously wanted to look at the lenses of the people that commented with the intention of seeing how theirs compared to mine. Because the people that commented were interested in my subject, they had lenses that were also of interest to me and suddenly I was reading through them, clicking links and adding myself as a fan.

I hopped over to the forum and found some very friendly folk which made me want to hang around, post comments and look at some of their lenses too. The only thing I have to be careful of is spending too much time looking at other lenses rather than working on my own!

Next I realised that a lot of people are earning money from their lenses - Squidoo share out their affiliate profits from AdSense, Amazon and Cafe Press. There's probably more affiliate revenue but I haven't spent the time looking yet. Once I do look into this extra earning potential, you can be sure I'll be using it to the max.

All in all these past 3 days have been great fun and I'm actually excited again about making some extra money online. The whole concept was getting a little boring for me - I've already stopped ebaying but have been trying to kick myself into starting again and now I see Squidoo allow me to put my own auctions/store on my lenses I really have to make ebaying a must.

I used to love affiliate marketing and always used ebay as a tool to sell something low cost and send a winning buyer email with a link to my website or a direct upsell It worked but it got boring! I know, I know..... if it was making money why not keep it up?! Because I have to love what I'm doing otherwise I get bored very quickly and easily and just can't be bothered anymore.

Now if you're struggling for money you probably think I'm off my rocker but the thing is, I'm not struggling for money so can afford to pick and choose what I do with my time and energy. I was once struggling and I'm far from wealthy and can always do with some extra cash but I'm not desperate enough/struggling enough to make affiliate marketing a 'must' anymore. I still get income from way back when I started affiliate marketing and from the affiliate links in my first ebook.

I hope my attitude hasn't offend you but I'm just trying to get the point across that probably most of us need to do something that excites us otherwise it becomes stale and we stop doing it. I'm excited again!

So what are my plans for the last 6 months of 2008?

a) Create at least 100 Squidoo lenses

b) Start selling on eBay again

c) Keep writing articles to keep visitors coming to my website, blogs and lenses

d) Finish the subliminal MP3 recordings that I've started and sell them on ebay and my website

e) Keep adding relevant content to my website at least once a month

f) Find some new, quality affiliate products to promote and sell

The above list isn't in any particular order (yet!) and I'll probably be adding to it - it's just off of the top of my head now that I've got my enthusiasm for IM back again and that enthusiasm is all thanks to Squidoo!

Get yourself over to their website and check it out - build a lens and I bet you'll be addicted too. It's just such a refreshing, friendly place to be and it has the potential to increase your online earnings. A definite 5 stars!
